Egypt to Host Club World Championship Until 2029
Egypt will extend its hosting of the IHF Men’s Club World Championship for three more years, while launching a new international tournament, the Grand Eight, in November 2027.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) has signed a new agreement with the Egyptian Handball Federation, extending Egypt’s hosting rights for the IHF Men’s Club World Championship for another three years, covering the 2027, 2028 and 2029 editions.
The agreement will see Egypt host the tournament for a sixth consecutive year, following its staging of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions, maintaining its place as host of one of the biggest club competitions in international handball.
The agreement also includes the launch of a new international tournament called the Grand Eight, with Egypt set to host its inaugural edition in November 2027. The competition will feature eight of the world's top national teams and will be organised in collaboration with the Egyptian Handball Federation and Sports United, with support from the IHF.
Further details about the tournament are expected to be announced in the coming period, including its competition format, match schedule and participating teams.
