New AlUla Exhibition Traces Thousands of Years of History
‘An Ongoing Story’ brings together 25 archaeological and heritage objects at Al-Jadidah Arts District until December 5th.
A new exhibition titled ‘An Ongoing Story’ has opened at AlUla’s Al-Jadidah Arts District, presenting 25 archaeological and heritage artefacts from the Royal Commission for AlUla’s collections.
Running until December 5th, 2026, the exhibition traces different periods of AlUla’s history through stone tools, Dadanitic and Lihyanite inscriptions, coins, pottery, jewellery, books, photographs and other historical materials.
The exhibition was curated by 16 trainees from a programme developed in collaboration with SOAS University of London and supported by the British Council through the AlUla grants programme. Working with the commission’s artefact management and conservation specialists, the trainees selected and researched the objects, wrote interpretive texts and contributed to the display design.
The show is divided into four sections exploring the region’s cultural development across thousands of years.
Alongside the exhibition, hot air balloon rides are offering aerial views over AlUla’s mountains, valleys, palm groves and the archaeological site of Hegra. Operations are managed by specialised Saudi professionals, with Saudi and international pilots working under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Ballooning Federation.
