Kazdoura's 'Ghoyoum' Wins Global Album of the Year at the Juno Awards

Lebanese-Syrian duo Kazdoura has clinched Global Music Album of the Year at the 2026 Juno Awards for their debut album Ghoyoum.
Held annually in Hamilton, the JUNO Awards are Canada’s premier music honours, often described as the equivalent of the Grammys. This year’s ceremony was dominated by pop heavyweight Tate McRae, who swept multiple major categories, including Album, Artist, and Single of the Year, alongside Pop Album of the Year.
Made up of Syrian vocalist Leen Hamo and Lebanese-Canadian multi-instrumentalist John Abou Chacra, Kazdoura has carved out a distinct lane in the regional circuit, fusing Arabic maqams with pop, jazz improvisation, psychedelia, and funk. Ghoyoum, their first full-length, doubles as a poignant meditation on war and displacement, channelling migrant narratives through richly textured storytelling rooted in Arab heritage, with echoes of ’70s Turkish rock.
