Riyadh Added to UN-Habitat's Global Quality of Life Index
The initiative introduces a unified framework for measuring livability across the Saudi capital.
Riyadh has joined the Global Quality of Life Index, a global initiative developed by the Quality of Life Program Center in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
The initiative integrates the Saudi capital into a unified measurement framework designed to help cities monitor and benchmark progress in improving residents' quality of life through a combination of quantitative and qualitative indicators.
According to the Quality of Life Program Center, the index measures performance across areas including housing, mobility, public services, green spaces, safety, and physical and mental health, enabling city leaders to compare livability outcomes with those of other participating cities.
Riyadh's participation forms part of ongoing collaboration between the Quality of Life Program Center, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, and the Riyadh Region Municipality to embed unified measurement frameworks covering health and well-being, the urban environment, and economic and social opportunity.
