Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show Draws 96,000 Visitors in Sharjah
The show unveiled Spirit of the Emirates, the first locally sourced Emirati gemstone, and debuted a Guinness recognised AED 5 million gold dress.
More than 96,000 people attended the 57th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show in Sharjah, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous edition.
The five-day exhibition, organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, concluded on Sunday after bringing together 400 exhibitors from 19 countries.
Held across a 30,000-square-metre venue, the event featured manufacturers and designers specialising in gold, diamonds, gemstones, luxury jewellery and watches. Exhibits also highlighted trends including laboratory-grown diamonds, precious metals and developments in jewellery manufacturing and packaging technologies.
International participation included exhibitors from China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Türkiye, the UK and the US, alongside representatives from eight Arab countries. Five international pavilions were dedicated to Italy, India, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.
Exhibitors offered a range of promotions during the event, including VAT absorption on selected products, discounts of between 60% and 75% on diamond jewellery and reduced manufacturing charges on gold ornaments.
Among the show's highlights was a gold dress valued at AED 5 million, created by Al Romaizan Gold & Jewellery. Made from more than 10 kilograms of 21-carat gold, the piece holds the Guinness World Record for the world's most expensive gold dress and was displayed publicly for the first time.
The exhibition also saw the unveiling of 'Spirit of the Emirates', the UAE's first locally sourced gemstone. Fashioned from natural red jasper extracted from the Al Siji region of Fujairah, the stone was developed in partnership with the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation.
The Emirati Goldsmiths Platform recorded its strongest participation to date, featuring 20 designers, including seven women making their exhibition debut, as well as a jewellery design created by people of determination.
