UAE Temperatures to Reach 46°C the Week of June 1st to 7th
Winds up to 40 km/h will stir dust and make the Arabian Gulf rough at times, the National Centre of Meteorology said.
The UAE is set for a particularly hot week, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 46°C in inland areas between June 1st and 7th, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Coastal and island regions are forecast to record temperatures between 35°C and 40°C, while inland areas could see highs ranging from 42°C to 46°C. In mountainous regions, temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 39°C. The NCM also warned of fresh winds across parts of the country, which may raise dust and sand, reducing visibility at times. Southwesterly to northwesterly winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h in coastal areas and up to 35 km/h inland and over mountainous regions. Meanwhile, sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are forecast to become increasingly rough as the week progresses. Waters are expected to be moderate to rough from Wednesday before turning rough by Friday. According to the NCM, the weather pattern is being driven by weak surface pressure systems combined with an upper-air high-pressure extension over the region.
