Rainfall in Saudi Arabia Rises 162% in Early April 2026

Rainfall levels in Saudi Arabia rose by 162% between April 1st and 16th compared to seasonal averages, according to data from the National Center for Meteorology.

The report recorded an average rainfall of 20.3 mm during the period, up from a normal level of 7.8 mm, marking an increase of 12.5 mm.

Data from manned weather stations showed varied distribution across the country, with 11 stations recording above-average rainfall, 11 within the normal range of ±5 mm, and four below average. The highest positive deviation was recorded at Abha station at +139 mm, while Taif recorded the largest shortfall at -12.1 mm.

In terms of total accumulation, Abha recorded the highest rainfall at 163 mm, marking the station’s second-highest total on record. Khamis Mushait followed with 59.3 mm.

Automatic monitoring stations also reflected regional variation, with Khamis Mushait recording the highest total at 72.8 mm, while Al-Soudah station in Abha registered 40.6 mm, indicating differences in rainfall distribution even within the same area.

The National Center for Meteorology said the data contributes to ongoing climate monitoring efforts and supports improved analytical accuracy. It also encouraged the public to follow official updates through its regular reports.
