Free Preventive Health Programme Launches for Seniors in Abu Dhabi
‘Healthy Horizons’ offers free screenings, specialist workshops, physical activities and digital health support for Emirati senior citizens.
A new preventive healthcare programme for Emirati senior citizens has launched in Abu Dhabi, offering free screenings, specialist workshops and guided physical activities aimed at supporting healthier ageing.
‘Healthy Horizons’ was launched by PureHealth and the Family Development Foundation in collaboration with Emirates Foundation, Active Abu Dhabi and PureHealth entities including SEHA, SEHA Clinics, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City and SAKINA. The programme focuses on identifying health risks early, improving access to timely medical support and helping seniors stay connected to healthcare services.
Participants will have access to preventive screenings and sessions covering geriatric medicine, chronic disease management, eye health, sleep quality and mental wellbeing. They will also receive guidance on accessing PureHealth’s wider clinical network when further care is needed.
The programme also includes support for using Pura, PureHealth’s AI-powered health application, allowing participants to remain connected to healthcare services and follow-up digitally.
Initial activities are already underway, including screenings and assistance with Pura registration. So far, 54 volunteers from PureHeroes, the national healthcare volunteering platform launched by Emirates Foundation and PureHealth, have contributed more than 270 service hours to the initiative.
‘Healthy Horizons’ complements existing senior healthcare services in Abu Dhabi, including the Barakatna Clinic launched by Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in December 2025. The programme is expected to expand into additional communities, with plans to increase screening coverage and strengthen digital follow-up for participants.
