Firefighting Robots to Tackle Industrial & Warehouse Fires in Sharjah

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has deployed advanced firefighting robots to support emergency response operations in industrial zones and warehouse fires across the emirate. The robotic units are intended for use in hazardous environments involving extreme heat, unstable buildings, and chemical risks, allowing firefighters to manage incidents remotely from safer distances.
Officials said six units are currently in operation, primarily during warehouse and industrial fires. The robots, known as FFBOT, are controlled wirelessly from up to 1,000 metres away and are dispatched alongside firefighting teams as part of Sharjah’s emergency response plan.
Each unit can discharge water and foam at a rate of 8,000 litres per minute, with a reach extending up to 100 metres horizontally and 50 metres vertically. The machines are also equipped with GPS-supported navigation, thermal sensors, cooling sprinklers, and six smart cameras transmitting live visuals from inside fire scenes.

Additional features include heavy-duty headlights, warning sirens, reinforced bumpers for clearing obstacles, and the ability to climb stairways at angles of up to 30 degrees. According to the authority, the robots are used during the most dangerous phases of industrial fires, including incidents where temperatures exceed 500°C. The systems conduct initial suppression and reconnaissance before firefighters enter affected areas under safer conditions.
