Etihad Rail to Extend Passenger Service to Dubai in September

Etihad Rail will expand its passenger network to Dubai and Al Dhaid on September 30th, marking the next phase in the rollout of the UAE's national passenger rail service.

The Dubai Station, located near Jumeirah Golf Estates, and the Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah will join the network following the launch of the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route in late June 2026.

Further expansion is scheduled throughout late 2026 and early 2027. Madinat Zayed and Liwa stations in the Al Dhafra Region are due to open on November 30th, followed by Al Sila, Al Dhannah and Al Mirfa on December 30th. Sharjah University City Station is expected to open on March 30th, 2027, completing the first phase of the passenger network.

Current fares on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route include a 50% introductory discount, with Comfort Class tickets starting from AED 55 and Premium Class from AED 120. Passengers can choose between Saver, Value and Flex fare options, while discounted fares are also available for children and senior citizens. Ticket prices for future routes will be announced closer to their respective launch dates.

The rail service is also being integrated with local public transport networks. In Abu Dhabi, shuttle buses connect Mohamed bin Zayed City Station with destinations including ADNOC Headquarters, ADNEC Centre and Reem Mall, while additional bus routes link the station to the Main and Al Zahya bus stations. In Dubai, the network will connect with the Roads and Transport Authority's metro and bus services, with Nol card integration planned across rail and public transport.

Once fully operational, the passenger network will span around 900 kilometres, connecting 11 cities and regions across all seven emirates, from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah on the east coast.
