Dubai’s New Pet Shelter Lets You Find Your Next Furry Friend Online

Dubai Municipality has opened an integrated pet shelter at the Birds and Pets Market in Warsan, introducing a digital adoption platform that allows residents to browse rescued cats and dogs before visiting the facility.

The online platform provides information about each animal's health, behaviour and availability, while the shelter itself features interactive adoption rooms where prospective owners can spend time with pets before making a decision.

The facility also houses a veterinary clinic equipped with a surgical operating theatre, as well as a dedicated centre to help reunite lost pets with their owners by verifying identification and ownership records.

According to Dubai Municipality, the shelter forms part of wider efforts to strengthen animal welfare, promote responsible pet ownership and establish a more humane approach to managing stray companion animals across the emirate.

To support treatment and rehabilitation, the municipality has signed agreements with Vets Fur Pets Veterinary Clinic and Phoenix Veterinary Clinic to expand care for injured and sick stray animals while promoting best practices in veterinary care.

The municipality also continues to implement Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programmes for stray cats, under which animals are humanely trapped, neutered and vaccinated before being returned to their original locations where it is safe for both the animals and the public. Similar treatment and care programmes are in place for stray dogs and cats requiring medical attention.
