Dubai Intl Holy Quran Award Returns With USD 3.3 Million in Prizes

Applications have opened for the 29th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, which will award a total of USD 3.3 million in prizes when winners are honoured during Ramadan 2027.
Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the award features three categories: a men's category for participants aged 16 and above, a boys' and girls' category for participants aged 16 and under, and the Global Quranic Personality award.
The first-place winner in both recitation categories will receive USD 1 million, while second and third place will receive USD 100,000 and USD 50,000 respectively. The Global Quranic Personality award also carries a USD 1 million prize.
Applications are open from July 7th to August 15th, 2026 through the award's official website. Applicants must complete an online form, upload a passport copy and personal photograph, and submit a Quran recitation video of up to three minutes.
For participants aged 16 and above, the competition includes an initial video selection followed by live Taraweeh prayer recitations at major mosques in Dubai during Ramadan, after which the public will vote for the most beautiful recitation between February 8th and 16th, 2027. The under-16 category will include a virtual live evaluation in September 2026 before the public voting stage.
According to the organisers, the previous edition attracted 5,618 participants from 105 countries.
