Cairo to Host Four-Way Gaza Mediation Meeting

Cairo is set to host a four-way meeting involving mediators from Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey to reaffirm all parties' commitment to implementing the Gaza agreement, according to informed sources.

The sources said Egypt is intensifying diplomatic contacts with the parties involved to discuss mechanisms for implementing the agreement. They added that Hamas and other Palestinian factions have responded positively to Egyptian mediation efforts and the role played by the mediators.

According to the sources, successful implementation of the agreement would pave the way for early recovery programmes and the resumption of reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, including rebuilding damaged infrastructure, restoring educational services and ensuring the operation of essential public facilities and basic services.

The reported developments follow remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said the Peace Council had reached what he described as a historic agreement to fully disarm Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the proposed plan envisages governance under a new Palestinian administration working with the Peace Council, followed by the withdrawal of Israeli forces after disarmament and the deployment of an International Stabilization Force alongside a new Palestinian police force. He also thanked Egypt, Qatar and Turkey for their mediation efforts.
