Abu Dhabi Police Launch Back to School Road Safety Lectures
The programme focuses on school transport safety, pedestrian rules and scooter use.
A series of road safety lectures has been introduced across schools in Abu Dhabi as students return for the new academic term, led by Abu Dhabi Police.
The initiative, delivered by the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate, focuses on reducing accidents and easing congestion during school runs, with an emphasis on early traffic education as part of broader road safety strategies.
During the sessions, officers provided practical demonstrations on vehicle safety, including correct seat belt use and the importance of remaining seated while a vehicle is in motion. School bus safety was a key focus, with guidance on identifying danger zones around buses and following proper boarding and alighting procedures to avoid blind spots.
Students were also briefed on pedestrian safety, including the use of marked crossings and avoiding distractions near roads.
The programme addressed the increasing use of electric scooters among young people, outlining requirements for safety gear, the use of designated paths and the risks associated with high speeds in crowded areas.
The outreach comes alongside increased patrols in school zones and efforts to ensure motorists comply with stop-sign rules on school buses, as part of a wider push to reduce preventable collisions and improve road safety awareness.
