31 New Pedestrian Bridges to Connect Key Areas in Dubai by 2030

A network of 31 new pedestrian bridges will be built across Dubai by 2030 as part of efforts to improve mobility and accommodate the emirate's growing population.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority, locations for the crossings have been selected based on population density and their proximity to tourist and economic destinations. The bridges are intended to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists while easing traffic flow.
The new structures will form part of a wider network linking residential communities with key destinations and supporting first- and last-mile journeys using walking and cycling.
The authority said pedestrian fatalities have declined by 98% since 2007, falling from 9.5 deaths per 100,000 people to 0.22 per 100,000 in 2025. Satisfaction with pedestrian infrastructure reached 88%, while the number of pedestrian trips rose from 307 million in 2023 to 326 million in 2025. Cycling trips increased by 23% over the same period, rising from 46.6 million in 2024 to 57.3 million in 2025.
The number of pedestrian bridges and tunnels across Dubai has grown from 26 in 2006 to 178 in 2025. Three pedestrian and cycling bridges were recently completed on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and Al Manara Street in Al Quoz Creative Zone. They connect routes across Al Sufouh, Dubai Hills, Dubai Internet City, Barsha Heights and Al Barsha 3.
Three additional crossings are currently under construction. These include a 554-metre bridge linking Muhaisnah 1 with Al Twar and extending to Al Mamzar Beach, a 730-metre bridge connecting Liwan with Dubai Silicon Oasis, and a 44-metre bridge on Al Sukook Street as part of the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, which is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
