You Can See a Total Lunar Eclipse in Egypt on September 7th

A total lunar eclipse will be visible in Egypt on Sunday, September 7th, coinciding with the full moon of Rabiʿ al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar In Cairo, the spectacle will begin with a slight dimming at 4:28 pm, followed by a partial eclipse at 5:35 pm, leading up to the total eclipse between 6:44 pm and 7:37 pm.

The moon will gradually slide out of Earth's shadow and the penumbral phase will conclude by 9:53 pm. This eclipse will be visible not only across Egypt but across Africa, much of Europe, Asia, Australia, and parts of the Americas and polar regions, wherever the moon remains above the horizon.

Safe to view with the naked eye, lunar eclipses like this one also play a role in astronomy and the Islamic lunar calendar, marking a precise alignment of planets that only happens halfway through the month.
