Where to Watch the September Blood Moon Eclipse in the UAE

A rare total lunar eclipse will be visible across the UAE on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, with residents in all seven emirates able to witness the celestial event without special equipment.

The eclipse, often referred to as a Blood Moon for the deep red or copper tones it produces, will unfold over the course of five and a half hours and can be seen by an estimated 87% of the world’s population across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align, with sunlight refracting through Earth’s atmosphere and casting red and orange hues on the lunar surface. In the UAE, the event is considered one of the more notable astronomical spectacles of 2025.

Here’s where you can catch the show across the UAE:

Mohammed bin Rashid Library – Dubai

Forget quiet reading—the rooftop will be buzzing with telescopes, astrophotography, and expert talks for sky chasers.

Mleiha National Park – Sharjah
