UAE Schools Defer Exams & Shift to Online Learning Until March 4th

Schools in the United Arab Emirates have deferred examinations and moved to online classes until March 4th under nationwide precautionary directives, education authorities and institutions said.

The measures will be reviewed later this week and could be prolonged if required, pending further official guidance. The shift comes as many schools, particularly those following Indian curricula, are in the middle of final exam season.

An Indian school in Ras Al Khaimah said it had scrapped outstanding exams for Grades 1 to 9 and Grade 11, stating that earlier assessment scores would be used to determine annual results. Students who fail subjects will sit retests in accordance with standard policy.

In Dubai, Al Sadiq Islamic English School said exams scheduled during the affected days would be rescheduled. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi’s Shining Star International School said it planned to administer examinations remotely, following systems implemented during the pandemic.

Major operators including GEMS Education told parents that lessons would continue virtually, while transport, extracurricular activities and external programmes remain on hold. Authorities described the move as a precaution prioritising student safety, citing the country’s established remote-learning infrastructure.
