Egypt’s Ministry of Labour has announced the formation of a committee to monitor Egyptian workers in the Gulf, amid escalating developments in the region.
The committee will be responsible for communicating with labour offices representing Egyptian workers in Arab countries in order to identify risks or challenges they may face. Following a joint attack on Iran by Israel and the US, several Arab countries have faced retaliatory strikes by Iran.
“We are receiving real-time reports on any developments or updates, ensuring rapid action and intervention when needed,” the Ministry said in a statement. Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad also held a video conference meeting with labour representation offices abroad to follow up on the conditions of Egyptian workers, stating that the Ministry will continue to constantly monitor the situation to ensure a swift response to any further regional developments.
