Egypt to Develop 203 Technical Schools With Italy & UK

Plans are underway to develop 103 technical schools across Egypt in partnership with Italy, with negotiations continuing with Britain to establish an additional 100 schools, as part of efforts to align technical education with labour market demands.

The proposals were reviewed during a meeting attended by Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Mostafa Madbouly and Mohamed Abdel-Latif.

The 103 Italian-partnered schools are scheduled to enter service at the start of the next academic year, while discussions remain ongoing regarding the proposed British-supported schools.

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education outlined parallel steps to introduce programming and artificial intelligence into curricula in cooperation with Japan.

Plans also include distributing tablet devices to technical education students to support digital learning. A digital and financial literacy protocol between the Ministry of Education and the Financial Regulatory Authority was also reviewed.

The framework aims to build early financial awareness, provide practical skills in money management and project financing, and strengthen safeguards against unlawful financial practices.

Proposals to strengthen human resources include training and qualifying staff in 100 schools in cooperation with a Japanese university, alongside expanded partnerships with international institutions across general and technical education.

Recent expansions in applied technology education were also highlighted. A pharmaceutical-focused technical school group launched last September in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population, the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Technological Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries in Rome.

The three-year programme grants a technological diploma accredited by the Ministry of Education, alongside internationally recognised training certificates and competency certification from the Rome-based institute.
