Safe Driving Can Clear Traffic Record Points on August 25th

Motorists can have four black points removed from their driving records on Sunday, August 25th - the first day of the 2025–26 school year - by avoiding accidents and complying with traffic regulations. The initiative is part of the Federal Traffic Council’s annual Accident-Free Day campaign, which encourages safe driving as more than one million pupils return to classrooms.

To participate, drivers must sign a pledge on the Ministry of Interior’s website and follow safety rules on the day, including wearing seatbelts, observing speed limits, maintaining safe distances, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phone use. Drivers who meet the criteria will have four points deducted from their record by September 15th.

Last year, more than 300,000 motorists took part. Authorities say the focus on the first day of school aims to reduce congestion-related risks and ensure pupil safety.

Black points are issued for serious offences under UAE traffic law. Reaching 24 points in a year can result in licence suspension, fines, and vehicle impoundment.
