Reports Indicate Fire in Dubai’s Fairmont the Palm Hotel

Photos and videos circulating online on Saturday evening, February 28th, show flames and thick smoke rising from the Fairmont The Palm hotel on Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai.

There has been no official confirmation yet from UAE authorities on the cause of the blaze, and it’s unclear whether any foreign strike or missile is involved.

Earlier today the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran earlier Saturday, prompting Iran to fire missiles and retaliate against US bases in the Gulf region.

In response to the heightened tensions and airspace security concerns, all flights at Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports were suspended or cancelled until further notice.
