Egypt’s PM Announces Emergency Unit to Monitor Regional Developments

Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly is reviewing the country’s strategic food reserves with the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade following joint Israeli–US strikes on Iran on Saturday, February 28th, the cabinet said.

Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk confirmed the availability of “a safe stock of various essential commodities, sufficient for several months,” adding that efforts are ongoing to inject goods into markets and monitor prices to ensure “the necessary market discipline in the interest of citizens” and prevent “any monopolistic practices or unjustified price increases,” particularly during Ramadan.
