Saudi and Egyptian boxing federations unite to boost local talent ahea

Turki Al Sheikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, has announced a partnership between Saudi Arabia’s Boxing Federation and the Egyptian Boxing Federation.

The news comes as the world of combat sports prepares to turn its attention to Egypt, where Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven will meet at the Pyramids of Giza for the World Boxing Council Heavyweight title — touted “Glory in Giza” —on May 23rd.

According to sources, the two federations agreed, to hold joint training camps, organize friendly tournaments, and exchange expertise.

Al Sheikh, the co-founder of professional boxing promotion company Zuffa Boxing, said in a statement that the partnership is an effort to strengthen Egyptian boxing locally and globally while empowering local talent.
