Mostafa Asal & Hania El Hammamy Win US Open Squash Titles

Mostafa Asal and Hania El Hammamy won the men’s and women’s titles at the US Open Squash 2025 in Philadelphia, taking both championships for Egypt in the tournament’s closing finals. In the women’s draw, world number two Hania El Hammamy of Wadi Degla claimed her first US Open title, defeating compatriot and world number three Amina Orfi in straight games. El Hammamy won 11-9, 12-10, 12-10 in a 57-minute final. The result marked her third consecutive title in her career. In the men’s final, world number one Mostafa Asal of Palm Hills beat New Zealand’s Paul Coll 3-0, closing out the match 11-9, 11-3, 11-3 in 58 minutes to secure what was described as his 14th major title. His path to the final included a semi-final victory over fellow Egyptian Youssef Ibrahim, who delivered one of the tournament’s most dramatic moments. In his quarter-final match against Joel Makin, Ibrahim dislocated his shoulder mid-match, reset it himself, and went on to reach the semi-finals. The United States Open is one of the leading events on the Professional Squash Association calendar. This year’s total prize fund was USD 452,000, allocated equally between the men’s and women’s competitions at USD 226,500 each.
