Ministry of Social Solidarity Plans 60 Million Ramadan Meals
Meals will be delivered via 642 Ahl El-Kheir points and more than 20 Mahrousa restaurants and outlets, with 286 partners involved.
Nearly 60 million meals are set to be distributed nationwide during Ramadan through a programme led by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
The initiative will operate via 642 Ahl El-Kheir feeding points and more than 20 fixed and mobile Mahrousa restaurants and outlets, implemented in partnership with 286 entities, including the Ministry of Awqaf, civil society organisations and charitable groups.
The programme also creates income opportunities for female breadwinners working in participating kitchens, linking food assistance with employment support.
Through the Fund for Supporting NGO and Civil Institution Projects, the ministry has also launched an Ahl El-Kheir competition to identify and support the most impactful feeding campaigns. The first phase is currently underway, with a second phase scheduled to continue through the end of Ramadan.
Non-governmental organisations, civil society groups and volunteer initiatives have been invited to apply through the ministry’s website.
The Ramadan distribution drive forms part of broader social protection programmes overseen by the ministry, including the Takaful and Karama cash-transfer scheme supporting low-income families, older persons and people with disabilities. Seasonal food initiatives typically complement cash assistance during Ramadan, when household food expenditure rises.
