Ministry of Agriculture Offers Discounted Eggs at Mobile Outlets
The mobile outlets also sell a variety of other goods, including potatoes, flour, onions and tomatoes.
The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a programme to supply eggs and other basic goods at reduced prices, with 10 mobile outlets roaming the streets of Cairo selling eggs for EGP 140 per carton. The cars covered densely populated areas, as well as some less busy parts of the city, pausing in public squares and other central areas to sell eggs and other basic goods, such as potatoes, flour, onions and tomatoes.
Goods were also sold at the ‘The Best of our Farms for Our People’ stall in Dokki, which has been providing basic commodities at cut prices throughout Ramadan, and continues to do so in the build-up to Eid Al Fitr.
At the start of April, the government set new reduced prices for eggs and poultry, in collaboration with the Union of Poultry Producers, reducing costs by 10% to 15% in an attempt to keep the basic source of protein as accessible to the population as possible.
