In just two days, pet adoption platform Leaf Animals has helped to raise over EGP 78,000 for ESDAR - the Egyptian Society for Defending Animal Rights.
ESDAR is the only equine shelter in Egypt, and currently houses 21 rescued horses, 38 donkeys and one camel.
Founded by Salwa Abdoh and operated by four dedicated workers, Abdoh and her small team handle all rescue cases on their own - from locating the animals, transporting them to their shelter in specialised vehicles, and nursing them back to health.
Since 2017, they have been treating and caring for animals in need of urgent care. ESDAR runs entirely on the goodwill of donors.
Leaf Animals is a Cairo-based platform on a mission to make animal rehoming more accessible, responsible, and humane. Founded by Amina El Shazly and Tanya El Kashef, the organisation helps to find stray animals in need of care loving homes since opening in 2021.
Every contribution, no matter the size, goes directly toward the animals' care and shelter expansion. More information about how to donate can be found on Leaf Animals and ESDAR's Instagram pages.
