Holy Qur'an Museum in Makkah Displays World’s Largest Handwritten Copy
The Holy Qur'an Museum in Makkah received a Guinness World Records certificate for displaying the manuscript.
The Holy Qur'an Museum at the Hira Cultural District in Makkah is displaying what has been certified as the world’s largest handwritten copy of the Holy Qur'an, according to a Guinness World Records recognition granted to the site.
The manuscript measures 312 by 220 centimetres and comprises 700 pages. It is currently available for public viewing within the museum, where it has been formally documented as the largest handwritten Qur'an manuscript on display.
Located in Makkah’s Hira Cultural District, the Holy Qur'an Museum presents exhibitions dedicated to Qur'anic history, manuscript traditions and Arabic calligraphy. The museum forms part of a broader heritage destination centred on the Cave of Hira, a site of historical and religious significance.
Through its collections and programming, the museum aims to provide visitors with access to rare texts and educational material detailing the preservation and transmission of the Qur'an across centuries. The addition of the Guinness-recognised manuscript strengthens the district’s focus on Qur'anic material culture and scholarship.
Visitors can view the manuscript during the museum’s regular operating hours as part of the Hira Cultural District experience.
