Evening School Shifts in Egypt to End by 2027 Under New Plan
A plan will end evening school shifts by 2027 through new school construction and better use of existing capacity.
Evening school shifts are set to be phased out across Egypt by 2027 under a plan led by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
The roadmap is based on two main tracks: expanding the construction of new schools and maximising the use of available space within existing campuses to accommodate students in morning-only schedules.
The ministry is working with education directorates and local administrations across governorates to implement the plan, with ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure execution on the ground.
As part of the same framework, efforts are being made to manage classroom density by relying on detailed student data for current and incoming cohorts, with a target of maintaining class sizes at or below 50 students.
Measures to reinforce attendance are also being introduced, including linking coursework grades to student presence and absence records.
