Schools in Egypt Will be Off March 25th & 26th Due to Severe Weather

The Minister of Education has granted schools across Egypt an official holiday Wednesday March 25th and Thursday March 26th, due to severe weather conditions forecasted by the Egyptian Metereological Authority.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, Egypt is expected to experience rapid weather instability, with prolonged periods of heavy rain affecting multiple regions as colder air moves across the country.

Citizens and residents are advised to avoid standing under trees and billboards. Rainfall is expected across the northern coasts, Delta governorates, Canal cities and Greater Cairo, in addition to large parts of North Upper Egypt, North New Valley, the Gulf of Suez and Sinai.

Flash floods are also possible in parts of Upper Egypt, the Gulf of Suez and Sinai. Winds will be active across most parts of the country, with stronger conditions expected in Greater Cairo, New Valley, the Gulf of Suez, Sinai, Upper Egypt and the Red Sea mountain range.

The authority also warned of potential thunder, lightning and sudden downburst winds during storm activity.
