Emirates Red Crescent Sets Up Ramadan Iftar Tents Across UAE
Seasonal Ramadan programmes aim to reach 395,000 beneficiaries with allocations exceeding AED 32.5 million.
The Emirates Red Crescent has begun setting up Ramadan Iftar tents across the UAE as part of its seasonal ‘Iftar Saem’ initiative under the ‘Ramadan… Giving Without Limits’ campaign. The authority said its domestic Ramadan programmes are expected to reach around 395,000 beneficiaries across all emirates, with total allocations exceeding AED 32.5 million.
The authority called on philanthropists to sponsor Iftar tents nationwide. Sponsorship costs are set at AED 75,000 in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, and AED 65,000 in Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. These amounts cover installation and operational requirements, including permits, lighting, air conditioning, electrical connections, supervision and the provision of hot meals for 30 days.
The Ramadan programme includes several components, such as Ramadan food parcels under the ‘Meer Ramadan’ initiative, daily Iftar meals, light fast-breaking snacks, Zakat Al Fitr, Eid clothing and other community-focused activities. New measures this year include ‘Your Iftar Is On Us’, which distributes Iftar meals directly to shift workers at their workplaces and to individuals required to work during Iftar hours, particularly in hospitals and essential service institutions.
Group Iftar tables will also be organised at selected restaurants to ease overcrowding at traditional tents in public areas and labour communities. Ready-to-eat Iftar meals will be distributed from designated locations, including the General Secretariat headquarters in Abu Dhabi and other centres nationwide.
Under the ‘Eid Clothing Market’ initiative, implemented in partnership with retail outlets, shopping vouchers will be provided to underprivileged families and orphans to select Eid clothing directly from participating stores.
Donation options within the campaign include AED 15 for an Iftar meal, AED 5 for a light fast-breaking meal, AED 15 for Fidya, AED 25 for Zakat Al Fitr, AED 50 for Eid clothing and AED 900 for Kaffarah. Contributions can be made through Emirates Red Crescent centres, the official website, the smart application, bank transfers, SMS and a toll-free number, as well as at hundreds of donation points across the country.
