Egypt’s New EGP Two Coin Features Queen Nefertiti

Egypt is rolling out its first-ever EGP 2 coin, featuring Nefertiti at the centre of its design.

The new release marks the debut of the EGP 2 denomination in coin form, while the EGP 1 coin is also getting a new design, despite already existing in circulation for years.

The Nefertiti coin blends Pharaonic heritage with updated minting and security features. The move is also set to make using change easier and to cut production costs by using cheaper metals.

Both coins are set to enter circulation gradually.
