Egypt Doubles Stay for Five-Year Visa Holders to 180 Days
The five year multiple entry visa, available to nationals of around 180 countries, allows repeated visits over five years without reapplying for each trip.

Egypt extended the permitted stay for holders of its five-year multiple-entry visa from 90 to 180 days per visit. The change applies per entry and was approved by the Egyptian Cabinet at its weekly meeting on September 17th, 2025. Travellers arriving on a long-term visa can apply for a tourist residence card that grants a 180-day stay for each entry. The card remains valid even if the holder exits and re-enters during that period. It enables access to services and dealings with state institutions throughout the authorised stay. Egypt’s five-year visa is available to nationals of around 180 countries and is intended for travellers who make frequent visits. It is a multiple-entry visa that remains valid for five years. Holders may enter Egypt multiple times during that validity. They do not need to submit a new visa application for each trip made under this category. Before this change, the maximum authorised stay per entry was 90 days. Travellers who wished to remain beyond that period were required to depart and re-enter. Alternatively, they had to apply for an extension through the authorities. The revised rule doubles the per-entry duration to 180 days.
