Cairo Hosts World Para Powerlifting Championship

For the first time, Egypt will host the World Para Powerlifting Championship, set to take place from October 8–18, 2025. The competition will be staged at the indoor arena of the New Administrative Capital’s Sports City, drawing around 800 athletes from more than 73 nations. The Administrative Capital Development Company has signed on as platinum sponsor, and announced further commitments: establishing a new headquarters for the Paralympic Committee and opening the country’s first specialized school for people with disabilities within the city. Beyond competition, the championship is part of the qualification pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and reflects Egypt’s strategy to elevate Paralympic sports while broadening inclusive opportunities for athletes of determination.
