Aswan Intl Women’s Film Festival Returns With 10th Edition This April

The Aswan International Women’s Film Festival will return to Aswan from April 20th to 25th for its 10th edition.

This year’s programme centres on Aziza Amir (1901–1952), recognised as the first female filmmaker in the Arab region and a key figure in the development of Egypt’s film industry. Her legacy forms the central reference point for the edition’s programming and visual identity.

The official poster, designed by Hisham Ali, presents a visual interpretation of the Nile through a female figure shaping its flow while carrying the festival’s shield of the goddess Isis.

The composition moves from South to North, reflecting Aswan’s geographical and cultural position along the river.

The artwork incorporates riverine imagery and the festival’s emblem to connect the edition’s theme with the city’s landscape and historical context, aligning with the festival’s ongoing focus on women in cinema.

Across the six-day programme, the 10th edition will run in Aswan with its communications and visual materials anchored in the figure of Aziza Amir and imagery tied to the Nile and the city’s heritage.
