Cairo Airport Passenger Traffic Exceeds Eight Million in Q1 2026
Passenger growth and flight movements increased across all three months in early 2026.
Cairo International Airport handled more than 8 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 9% increase compared to the same period last year.
Traffic growth was strongest at the start of the year. January recorded 2,996,606 passengers, up 14% from January 2025, while flight movements rose to 21,044 from 18,529.
In February, passenger numbers reached 2,757,932, reflecting a 12% year-on-year increase, with flight movements climbing 14% to 19,505. March saw a more moderate rise, with 2,328,662 passengers compared to 2,298,547 a year earlier, while flight movements increased to 18,825 from 18,419.
Officials attributed the sustained growth to improvements in operational systems and service quality. The quarterly performance follows broader annual growth, with the airport handling 30.94 million passengers in 2025, up 6.8% from 28.97 million in 2024. Flight movements also rose 4.8% year-on-year to 224,303.
