Air Purifiers Installed in Great Pyramid of Khufu for First Time
The project, carried out in collaboration with El-Araby Group and Japan’s Sharp Corporation, introduces air purification inside Khufu’s Pyramid to stabilise humidity and protect ancient walls.

Plasma Cluster air purification systems have been installed inside the King’s and Queen’s Chambers of the Pyramid of Khufu at the Giza Plateau, part of an initiative led by Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities to protect one of the world’s most iconic heritage sites. The project, carried out in collaboration with El-Araby Group and Japan’s Sharp Corporation, aims to reduce humidity levels and purify the air inside the chambers, helping to preserve the ancient walls from erosion while providing a safer and more comfortable environment for visitors. Preparatory studies are underway to expand the installation of these systems to the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure. The initiative supports Egypt’s broader sustainability goals, aligning with national strategies to integrate modern technology into heritage preservation and promote green tourism.
