Abu Dhabi Deploys 330 Smart Devices to Monitor Indoor Air
More than 330 smart monitoring devices now track indoor pollutants across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra via a centralised real-time dashboard.
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre has deployed more than 330 smart monitoring devices to track indoor air quality across private and government schools, residential households, and commercial and industrial spaces in the emirate.
The system operates through the Centre’s Indoor Air Quality Observatory, which was showcased at the World Health Expo in Dubai. The observatory provides real-time data and analytics on indoor pollutants via a central dashboard designed to offer a consolidated overview of conditions across buildings.
The interface maps priority hotspots, displays data coverage and device status, and features a dynamic indoor air quality index ranging from good to severely polluted. The platform is intended to support public health monitoring and targeted intervention where necessary.
In addition to measuring common pollutants, the system monitors biological contaminants, including mould and bacteria counts, to strengthen environmental health oversight and inform decision-making.
Coverage currently spans Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. A pilot phase has also begun, granting selected residents access to the dashboard to track air quality within their homes. The Centre stated that the initiative aims to raise public awareness of indoor environmental conditions and encourage informed action where required.
