A new specialised mental health centre has opened in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, offering advanced psychiatric care with a focus on treating major depressive disorder and handling psychiatric emergencies. Launched by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), a subsidiary of PureHealth, in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson, the Sakina Centre of Advanced Care brings together a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, pharmacology and lifestyle support. Part of a select group of specialised centres worldwide dedicated to advanced psychiatric treatment, it uses evidence-based therapies and treatment approaches, with a focus on early intervention, improving patient outcomes, and supporting the training of mental health professionals. Speaking at the opening, officials highlighted the centre’s role in delivering timely and compassionate care while contributing to improved system readiness for mental health emergencies, in line with the Department of Health’s broader vision for healthcare in Abu Dhabi.
