Egypt Shines in Huawei Contest as AI Cloud Solutions Take Centre Stage
2025 Huawei Cloud Developer Competition saw Egyptian developers rise to the top out of 1,400 participants from 10 countries.
Egypt is cementing its position as one Northern Africa’s premier technology hub, a fact made clear by the success of local talent at the 2025 Huawei Cloud Developer Competition. Co-organised with ITIDA, NTI and ITI, this regional initiative challenged over 1,400 participants from 10 countries to build impactful, solutions on Huawei Cloud. Egypt emerged as a clear leader, providing a diverse field of startups, enterprises, and students who competed at the Regional Grand Final held in the New Administrative Capital.

The vision behind this initiative centres on the idea that local developers are the engine of national growth. “Investing in developers is essential to building a competitive digital economy,” Jo Xu, CEO of Huawei Egypt Cloud, explains to StartupScene. “Through the Huawei Cloud Developers Competition, we’re enabling innovators to integrate leading Cloud and AI technologies into creative projects and apps.”

This focus on mentorship and infrastructure paved the way for the competing teams to move beyond theory and build enterprise-grade applications ready for the real world. The winning solutions showcased the power of AI across several key sectors. First place winners, Vulnera, addressed the rising tide of cyber threats by building an automated vulnerability detection system. Their platform helps organisations identify and fix security gaps before they become threats, creating a safer digital environment for businesses of all sizes. Meanwhile, second place winners, AIX, introduced an AI Sales Agent that automates social commerce, allowing SMEs to respond to customers 24/7 and manage inventory in real-time. Another second place winner was ATOSfit, which utilised Huawei Cloud’s speed and reliability to provide real-time AI fitness coaching, making professional-level form correction and nutritional guidance accessible to anyone with a smartphone.

The innovation continued with the third-place team, who tackled complex logistical and professional challenges. Nerd_People introduced MizanNet, a platform that uses AI to turn mountains of unorganised legal documents into a searchable, structured database for researchers and lawyers. In the healthcare sector, Tekronyx developed HCAIP to bridge communication gaps between patients, doctors, and insurers through AI-enhanced diagnostics, while Sightmate utilised computer vision to transform physical locations into ‘smart spaces’, helping businesses optimise staffing and customer flow.

Looking forward, beyond the competition, the innovativeness of these solutions signals a shift in the regional tech landscape. By bridging the gap between talent and market-ready solutions, the Huawei Spark Infinity Competition is doing its part in laying the groundwork for a self-sustaining ecosystem where local innovation can reach global standards. The integration of these AI and cloud technologies has the potential to reshape industries from law to healthcare, ensuring that the region's digital future is built by those who understand its challenges and opportunities best.
