Red Sea Film Foundation Titles Compete at Berlinale 2026
Three films backed by the Red Sea Film Foundation have been selected for the Berlinale 2026 official competition.
Saudi-backed films will feature in the official competition at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026, with three titles supported by the Red Sea Film Foundation selected for the event’s 76th edition.
The films reflect the foundation’s continued support for filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, Asia and Africa, and its growing presence within major international festivals.
Anthony Chen’s ‘We Are All Strangers’, the final chapter in the Singaporean director’s ‘Growing Up’ trilogy, will screen in competition. The film explores intimacy and social class through personal relationships shaped by inherited expectations.
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s ‘Soumsoum, The Night of the Stars’ will premiere globally in Berlin. The film follows a 17-year-old girl with unexplained supernatural abilities, using her story to examine belief systems, tradition and modern conformity.
Completing the selection is ‘Salvation’ by Turkish filmmaker and historian Emin Alper, which centres on family conflict and divided loyalties as two brothers confront each other in a struggle for leadership.
