Palestinian Children Sketch the Future in ‘Tomorrow’ Exhibit
The exhibition is running from September 28th to October 4th at Tamara Haus as part of Cairo Food Week.

In a quiet room, black frames punctuate dark grey walls, holding drawings by Palestinian children from Gaza now displaced in Cairo. Asked to sketch the future they imagine, their work makes up ‘Tomorrow: An Exhibition by Palestinian Children from Gaza’, hosted by Cairo Food Week at Tamara Haus in Downtown Cairo. Ranging in age from 2 to 17, the children draw with a raw honesty a future they’ve been denied the chance to witness. “I hope in the future my city will become beautiful again,” reads one drawing. Another says, “It’s my right to return to my country, it’s my right to learn, it is my right to play.”
“Initially we relied on monetary donations, but now that the families have been in Cairo long-term, we want our support to be more sustainable,” says Arielle, the exhibition’s organizer and founder of SafeGrow.
SafeGrow works with Palestinians displaced in Cairo, those who fled the escalation of genocide, or who found themselves stuck in Egypt after October 7th, helping them start anew. Some families have turned to tatreez embroidery, others to children’s books; their creations, alongside the drawings, were also on display.
Every artwork in ‘Tomorrow’ will be sold, with proceeds going directly to the families of the young artists. The exhibition runs at Downtown Cairo’s Tamara Haus, as part of Cairo Food Week, from September 28th to October 4th.
