No More Homework for KG to Grade 2 Public School Students in Dubai

Traditional homework will be removed for public school students from kindergarten through Grade 2 during the 2026–2027 academic year.

The change forms part of school readiness measures focused on keeping core learning for younger students within the classroom, where lessons can be delivered in a more structured and supportive environment.

Officials said the approach reflects the developmental needs of early learners and is intended to reduce unnecessary pressure on children and their families.

Instead of take-home assignments, schools will place greater emphasis on building literacy, communication and foundational skills through classroom activities aligned with early years learning objectives.

The change is also intended to leave younger students with more time outside school for rest, play, family interaction and reading.

Families are still being encouraged to maintain simple daily reading routines at home, allowing parents to reinforce classroom learning without formal homework requirements.
