Diwan Hosts Storytelling Talk With Ahdaf Soueif & Kamila Shamsie
Novelist Ahdaf Soueif will appear at Diwan Zamalek for a public discussion on storytelling hosted by Kamila Shamsie, taking place on Monday, December 29th.
Diwan Zamalek will host a live discussion titled ‘On Storytelling’ on December 29th at 7 PM, bringing together Egyptian novelist and cultural commentator Ahdaf Soueif and Pakistani-British writer Kamila Shamsie. Soueif is best known for works including ‘The Map of Love’, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and for a body of writing that moves between fiction, history, and political commentary, often examining the links between Egypt and the West. Her work has long engaged with questions of narrative, power, and representation across borders. The conversation will be led by Shamsie, author of novels such as ‘Home Fire’, which won the Women’s Prize for Fiction. Shamsie’s writing frequently addresses themes of identity, migration, and political belonging, positioning the discussion as a cross-cultural exchange on how stories are shaped, told, and received.
