Cairopolitan Opens Call for Um Kulthum-Inspired Art Ahead of 'El Sett'
In collaboration with El Sett, the open call invites artists and designers to reinterpret Umm Kulthum’s enduring influence through their own creative lenses.
As anticipation builds for El Sett, the upcoming feature film directed by Marwan Hamed and starring Mona Zaki that reimagines the life and legacy of Umm Kulthum, Cairopolitan is launching a special edition of its ongoing exhibition series Cairo Prints dedicated to the cultural icon.
In collaboration with El Sett, the open call invites artists and designers to reinterpret Umm Kulthum’s enduring influence through their own creative lenses, exploring how her voice continues to echo through contemporary Arab art and design.
The pop-up exhibition will feature a curated selection of works, from 50×70 posters to tote bags and T-shirts, serving as an independent artistic response rather than promotional material for the film.
Submissions are open until November 8th, 2025, via studio@cairopolitan.com (Subject: El Sett The Movie).
