Jenny Esber’s Most Unapologetically Kitschy 2010s Fashion Moments

Jenny Esber might not be a household name everywhere in the region, but if you spent any time flipping through satellite channels in the late 2000s and early 2010s, chances are you’ve come across her. Born in Latakia to a Syrian father and Ukrainian mother, Esber spent much of her childhood in Ukraine before returning to Syria at sixteen, where she began modeling, appeared in commercials, and eventually transitioned into acting - most memorably in the cult-favorite Syrian series Sabaya.

And if there’s one thing Esber delivered consistently during that era, it was peak 2010s kitsch. Think rhinestone details, pink-on-pink layering, camo sets, statement sequins, and the kind of hair accessories that instantly transport you back to a time when satellite TV reigned supreme. The vibe? You’re casually channel surfing, land on Rotana Khaleejiya, and suddenly there’s 'Sabaya' - with Esber serving a look that feels like it walked straight out of a mall in 2011.

'Sabaya' Season 1 | 2009

Early Sabaya was a goldmine of playful 2000s-meets-2010s styling, and Esber leaned all the way in. In one scene, she appears in a light pink set layered over a graphic tee stamped with a peace symbol, topped with a half-zipped pink jacket.

By 2013, Esber was experimenting with edgier styling. One shoot sees her in a camo-on-camo combination: a camouflage skirt and vest layered over a simple white tee. Add in chunky boots and a mesh headband situation and you’ve got a look that feels equal parts pop star rehearsal outfit and early Instagram-era fashion shoot.

'Sabaya' Season 5 BTS | 2013

Behind the scenes of Sabaya’s fifth season, Esber went full sparkle. A white short-sleeve tee with a giant golden heart made entirely of oversized sequins takes center stage, paired with ripped skinny jeans and stacks of gold bangles.

'Khawatem' BTS | 2014

While filming Khawatem, Jenny appeared with ultra-sleek, pin-straight hair and blunt bangs, paired with a knee-length black dress and a bold red blazer. A large structured black leather bag completes the outfit.

If there’s one look that screams Eastern European winter glam, it’s this one. In a 2015 shoot, Esber wears knee-length fur boots over tight leggings, topped with a plush fur cap that instantly evokes Slavic street style.

'Donia' BTS | 2015

Still loyal to her blunt bangs, Esber switches things up with fiery red hair while filming Donia. Sitting in the makeup chair, she pairs the bold hair color with a matching red blazer and tight jeans, finished with smoky eye makeup.
