Egyptian Perfume Brand Desirs Aromatically Embodies Alexandrian Motifs

Fragrances, like invisible threads woven through the tapestry of our lives, possess a mystical ability to transport us across time and space. With a single whiff, they unlock a treasure trove of memories, intertwining with our emotions, and awakening the very essence of our being. At times these memories harbour the bitter connotations of summer heartbreaks, reeking of volatile promises and ill-fated futures. In most circumstances - at least to our humble senses - fragrances can instigate a flurry of coconut-scented celebrations on beachy nights out and oud-saturated outings that echo with lingering laughs and intimate side conversations. Embodying the essence of the latter is Egypt-born fragrance brand Desirs, an aromatic manifestation of Alexandrian infrastructure.

“Passion for the fragrance market stems from a love for the way scents evoke memories and emotions, beyond just perfume,” Abdelrahman El Sagheer, the founder of Desirs, tells Scene Styled. “The branding is art-inspired, and the perfume revives Alexandria's past as every piece is made with love and is underscored by the desire to explore the raw aspects of human longing and yearning for fulfilment.”

The brand posits what most would describe as an experimental edge to traditional scent concoctions. Their best selling fragrance, Madagascar Vanilla, is imbued with notes of amber, anisette and balsamic, adding depths and mystery into the youthful scent mixture. A more androgynous take on most smoky fragrances, their Cuban Tobacco perfume is a sweet, nuanced and herbaceous take on tobacco scents, adding depths through notes of whiskey, caramel and hay.
