Award Winning Egyptian Creative & Retail Guru Amir Fayo Debuts '6901'

“Curating wasn’t enough. We needed to create,” says Amir Fayo, global brand architect and founder of Maison 69. And so 6901 was conceived, not as a collection but as an archive. “The first collection drew on more than 375 fabrics. It was not about cohesion in the traditional sense, but about layering,” explains Mariam Matar, Fashion Buyer at Maison 69. Cairo’s fragmented identity – where eras, textures, and styles collide – was mirrored in garments that deliberately resist neatness. Tailoring sits against cargo, absurdity tempers elegance, structure softens into play. Nothing matches. Yet, somehow, it all does.Unlike traditional fashion cycles, 6901 does not erase its past. Instead, every drop folds into what came before, adding rather than replacing. As Fayo puts it: “6901 is a permanent, evolving archive. New pieces are layered on top of the old, so nothing becomes irrelevant.” A philosophy that feels profoundly Egyptian: reinvention without deletion, the future built over a visible past.

6901’s first drop is built to cover every mood, from the ‘Abstract Oversized Tee’ and the essential sleeveless tank to standout pieces like the ‘Side-Ruched Sheer Maxi Dress’ with its long vertical slit, and the ‘Printed Kimono Jacket.’For now, the brand lives online at 6901Cairo.com. When it does move into the physical, Matar hints, it will be closer to an installation than a store. A place to experience rather than consume.

Collaboration sits at the heart of it all. From its inception, 6901 has opened itself to artists, designers, and makers, creating a porous network that extends beyond fashion. Clothing becomes only one language among many; the brand itself a platform.
What emerges is not a finished label but a living, shifting organism – layered, contradictory, permanent. Much like Cairo itself.
