Cairo According to: Alaa El Sheikh
An Alexandrian at heart, this is Cairo according to: Alaa El Sheikh.
Like many standup comedians, Alaa El Sheikh is really a cultural commentator whose main medium of exchange is laughter, with some occasional rage-bait (an invaluable Egyptian currency). But the ex-engineer isn’t just a comedian: he’s also the host of ‘Kefaya Ba2a’, a podcast where any and every topic concerning the quirks and oddities of Egyptian life is dissected without shame or filter. As El Sheikh disclaims before each episode, ‘Kefaya Ba2a’ is not for the easily offended—and neither is this Cairo According to.
Here, the comedian, creative, and podcast host breaks down the city that gave him the opportunity to thrive, though he admits that when it comes to food, Alexandria still has his heart.
